HANDYPERSON SERVICE

The Handyperson Service depends on a team of volunteers who carry out a variety of DIY type jobs in clients’ homes.  This helps to maintain the independence, safety and security of older and disabled people and may reduce the need for admission into a care setting.  Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds – some are working, others are retired, all wish to help our clients.  They also have a variety of skills and we have both male and female team members.

Our team of volunteers will carry out the following type of jobs:

  • Changing light bulbs
  • Fitting carbon monoxide detectors and batteries
  • Fitting plugs/changing fuses
  • Hanging pictures/photos
  • Fitting curtain rails and changing /hanging curtains
  • Fitting door chains, viewers, doorbells, etc
  • Give advice on home safety and security

The Handyperson Service is free – you will only be charged for the materials used by the volunteer to undertake the job.

The service continues to interact with community groups and other agencies in widening its scope of service and assisting with the particular needs of our clients.

HOMECHECK

The Handyperson Service offers a FREE home safety/security check and will install a range of security items if required.

"We do appreciate this service as there are jobs we cannot now do.  Your volunteer is a gem and we do enjoy his visits”.

“Your volunteer was prompt and tackled the work in a friendly and highly efficient manner.  I am totally satisfied with the work done.  Many thanks to all concerned.”
